Professional Bio.

 
 

Mia is a bright and compassionate person with a strong passion for helping others. Her approach as a therapist is based in the belief that empathy can change lives. Her work as a therapist best aligns with the tenants of Humanistic Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  Mia strongly believes in the roles of social justice, advocacy, and prevention in the field of counseling. She takes a multicultural lens to holistically view individuals in the context of their unique identity and circumstances. Mia primarily works with children, adolescents, and their family system, although she also enjoys working with individuals of all ages.

Mia currently has three published journal articles within the field of psychology. This work allowed her to better understand trends in mental health and stigma by understanding individual experiences. Mia has also completed an internship working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and developmental delays. Mia received her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in clinical and counseling psychology from McKendree University, and is currently finishing her master’s degree in counseling at Northwestern University. Mia has provided therapy to a variety of clients at the The Family Institute of Northwestern University and is currently providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families at the Center for Psychology and Wellness.
